Cyclic AMP regulates Catabolite and Transient Repression in E. coli

Abstract

Transient and catabolite repression of the synthesis of β-galactosidase in E. coli are related phenomena, the result of a decreased intracellular concentration of cyclic AMP. The lac operon promoter is the site of action of the cyclic AMP.
