Abstract
SINCE 1962, when Epstein et al.1 found a herpes-type virus associated with Burkitt's lymphoma cells cultured in vitro, herpes-type viral particles have been described in human leukaemia cells cultured in vitro, and also in lymphoid cells from normal individuals2. The same herpes-type virus that was found in Burkitt's tumour has been shown to be associated with the development of infectious mononucleosis3.
