Secretory γA Antibodies induced by Local Immunization

Abstract

THE γA class of immunoglobulins is a minor component of the serum immunoglobulins. It is a major, and sometimes the only, immunoglobulin in certain external secretions of man1, rabbits2,3 and dogs4. The γA of human external secretions has a characteristic antigenic determinant called “secretory piece”, “transport piece” or T-chain. The T-chain of rabbit colostral γA was partially purified and was found to have a molecular weight of about 50,000 (ref. 3).
