Control of Growth in Two Populations of Elephant Seals

Abstract

Growth models can explain differences in growth patterns and time of onset of puberty in elephant seal populations at Macquarie Island and Falklands Islands. Elephant seals at Macquarie Island are permanently stunted—possibly because of retarded growth during the suckling period.
