Abstract
XENON trioxide is a strong oxidizing agent, with a potential of −1.8 V (ref. 1) and the kinetics of several of its oxidation reactions, all of them thermal, have been studied2–4. We have now obtained evidence of a photochemical reaction in the course of a study of the oxidation of neptunium(V) by xenon trioxide
