Abstract
BERNTZEN1 described an apparatus for the cultivation of Hymenolepis nana in continuously circulating medium. His average recovery of live worms from two specified media was 7 per cent and 11 per cent, and this increased to 17 per cent when the temperature of cultivation was raised from 37° to 39° C. In an unspecified number of these worms, fertile eggs were produced by day 12. The advantages and disadvantages of Berntzen's apparatus and media have been discussed by Hopkins2.
