Adrenergic Effect of Chronic Administration of Neuroleptics

Abstract

Neuroleptic drugs, used in the treatment of schizophrenia, have a strong adrenolytic effect on the central nervous system. Prolonged administration, however, can lead to activation of the central adrenergic processes. The present experiments show that this is due to a feed-back effect.
