Abstract
CHROMAFFIN granules of the adrenal medulla are cell organelles which contain catecholamines in a high concentration. It has been suggested that the proteins of these granules are involved in the storage of these catecholamines. So far only the proteins from the granules of ox adrenal medulla have been characterized. These proteins are highly soluble in water, and the purification as well as some properties of the main component of the soluble fraction have been reported1–3. Recently, it was shown that the secretion of catecholamines from the perfused ox adrenal medulla is accompanied by a release of this specific component4.
