Chromatographic Fractionation of Hog Thyroglobulin

Abstract

DERRIEN et al.1,2 have purified thyroglobulin, the main protein component of thyroid, in a native state, and stated that their preparation was ultra-centrifugally as well as electrophoretically homogeneous. However, since the iodine content of thyroglobulin varies with preparations, especially with different physiological states of animals from which it is prepared, it is reasonable to assume that thyroglobulin is not a single protein, but consists of proteins iodinated to different degrees.
