Abstract
BÜNNING'S1 hypothesis of the relationship between day-length responses and diurnal rhythms as manifested by leaf movements has been the object of several recent criticisms2–4 as inconsistent with some facts of photoperiodic induction. However, Bünning's scheme is not only a theory of photoperiodism but also a generalization concerning diurnal leaf movements.
