Abstract
DR. PASCHER'S monograph contains the first instalment of observations in progress on the biology of this “Grossteich ”—a lake situated about 100 km. north of Prague. The present memoir, on the Chrysomonads (except the purely planktonic forms), deals with their classification (two new genera and eight new species being described), structure, motion, division, and encystment. The occurrence of contractile vacuoles in Microglena and of siliceous needles, as long as the cell, projecting from the surface of Mallomonas, are among the more noteworthy features referred to.
