AGGF1 therapy inhibits thoracic aortic aneurysms by enhancing integrin α7-mediated inhibition of TGF-β1 maturation and ERK1/2 signaling

Thoracic aortic aneurysm (TAA) causes many sudden deaths each year, however, no effective drug treatment is available. Here, the authors show that AGGF1 protein therapy attenuates TAA in three different mouse models through integrin α7-mediated inhibition of TGF-β1 maturation and ERK1/2 signalling.

ERADication of STING limits inflammation

The cGAS–STING cytosolic double-stranded-DNA-sensing pathway provides protection against infection but also contributes to inflammatory pathology and thus must be tightly regulated. In this issue, Jie et al. find that endoplasmic-reticulum-associated degradation of the adaptor STING by SEL1L–HRD1 controls steady-state STING levels to limit STING-driven inflammation.

Anti-fungal role for type I IFN as dectin-1 triggers non-pathogenic T_H17 cell development

The fungal pathogen receptor dectin-1 instructs the development of non-pathogenic T_H17 cells via TGFβ activation. This process requires strict control of the expression of type I interferon to ensure a delicate balance in the expression of its effector genes that control the release of active TGFβ.
