Rising Scholars: Breast Cancer

We are pleased to announce the launch of the Rising Scholars: Breast Cancer programme, a  collaboration between Nature Portfolio and  The Breast Cancer Research Foundation (BCRF). The inaugural Cohort is composed of global Early Career Researchers (ECRs) working in breast cancer and cancer research more broadly. Cohort members are selected from Minority-Serving Institutions (MSIs) and underrepresented communities from around the world as part of Springer Nature and BCRF’s continued commitment to fostering equity and advancing inclusive practices in scholarly research and publishing.

Rising Scholars: Breast Cancer will focus on:

  • The transfer of knowledge, increasing confidence, and strengthening skill sets to ensure ECRs feel prepared and confident in submitting their work to top tier journals.
  • Training sessions, led by Nature Portfolio Editors and professional, PhD-qualified expert trainers, which will help facilitate a strong editorial pipeline for their personal portfolio and aid in advancing their careers.
  • Monthly mentoring sessions with Nature Portfolio Editors, external senior researchers and clinicians, and BCRF leadership where they can highlight their recent publications, offer an overview of their current studies, ask questions, and will be encouraged to share their ideas and submit topics for discussion.

Cohort benefits

The selected researchers will receive:

  • One virtual Nature Masterclass on scientific writing and publishing: led by Nature Portfolio Editors
  • Three virtual Nature Masterclasses on communicating your science to non-specialists, research data for publishing success and the cohort choice of Nature Masterclass: led by Nature Masterclass trainers
  • Access to scientific editing credits for cohort members with a manuscript ready for submission. (Limited number available)
