Metal-Organic Frameworks

The search for novel functional materials with the potential to change lives is the central pursuit of applied materials scientists. Metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) have garnered a great deal of attention since their discovery,  on account of their tunable structures and ease of coupling with other functional materials to form hybrid composites. A variety of MOF-based advanced functional materials have been engineered and applied in real-world technologies. The application scope of MOF-based materials has evolved from initial functions in gas separation/capture to encompass broader roles in catalysis, renewable energy, drug delivery, and pollutant remediation. This Collection highlights recent advances in the application of MOF-based functional materials in these areas.
