Mucosal Immunology is pleased to announce a new initiative aimed at highlighting the research of Early Career Investigators (ECI) that represent the future of the field. Each ECI highlighted in this collection has already exemplified excellence in mucosal immunology research and pioneered paradigm shifting findings in a relatively short amount of time since establishing scientific independence. These ECIs will undoubtably continue to shape the next generation of research on mucosal immunity. Articles contributed to this collection by ECI highlight their research focus, inspiration, and discussions on what the future holds for one of the most exciting and rapidly growing areas of biomedical research.
