10th Anniversary of LSA: Collection on Micro- and Nano-photonics
2022 marks the 10th anniversary of Light: Science & Applications (LSA). In the past decade, LSA has published hundreds of outstanding researches covering the fundamentals and applications in all areas of optics and photonics. From those published papers, we have picked some on Micro- and Nano-photonics to share with you, our readers. We hope this collection can stimulate more researches and practices in related fields, and promote further progress in optics and photonics research.
An ultra-compact metasurface-based imager with modified point spread function is demonstrated to realize arbitrary all-optical parallel picture convolution that is highly compatible to convolutional neural network.
A polarization-multiplexed metasurface-enabled diffractive neural network, which is integrated with a CMOS imaging sensor, demonstrates on-chip multi-channel sensing and multitasking in the visible.
Mid-infrared light absorbed in the phonon-bands of a plasmonic nanocavity substrate perturb the Raman scattering signals on sub-µs timescales, allowing development of single-photon mid-infrared detectors.
A spatial light modulator is demonstrated based on Fabry-Perot nanocavity resonances, enabling micrometer-sized pixels and efficient full phase control at multiple wavelengths simultaneously, across the visible spectrum (including RGB colors).
Novel Quantum-probe Field Microscopy (QFIM) captures ultrafast movies of Terahertz electric waveforms inside microstructures using fluorescent quantum dots.
Recent years have witnessed substantial potential in allying meta-optics with diverse waveguide platforms to enable exotic manipulation of guided light signals. This review cataloged recent advances on meta-waveguides for photonic integration.
