James William Aukett

James is currently a Course Tutor for MSC (DPH) at King’s College London and is also a writer of dental articles, having published numerous papers across the span of 40 years (1978–2019). Previous positions held include Acting Chief Dental Officer (The Gambia), Senior Dental Officer (Buckingham AHA), District Dental Officer (Brighton AHA), and Director of Dental Services (Southdowns Health NHS Trust). James’s qualifications include BDS from the University of Birmingham, DDPH RCS (Eng), MA (Management Science) from the University of Kent, and MSc (Distinction) Health Promotion from UCL.

Stanley Gelbier

Stanley’s career has spanned all branches of dentistry. Academic posts began as lecturer in child dental health at the London Hospital, rising to Professor of Dental Public Health at King’s College London. He began writing during his first house post at RDH, the first paper published on caries in incisor teeth caused by acid drinks. He has written over 100 papers since on general and community dentistry and on the profession. During Stanley’s early career, he became interested in dental history, especially the lives of leading dentists. After ‘retirement’ he continued this interest, was honorary curator of the BDA Museum and Professor in the History at KCL. He has written over 160 historical papers.

C. Albert Yeung

Albert is a Consultant in Dental Public Health at NHS Lanarkshire in Scotland. He is an Honorary Clinical Senior Lecturer of the University of Glasgow. He is co-editor of the Oxford Dictionary of Dentistry (Second Edition). He is a Professional Adviser to the Scottish Public Services Ombudsman. He is a past President of the British Association for the Study of Community Dentistry. He is an examiner for General Dental Council’s Overseas Registration Examination, Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Glasgow, and Royal College of Surgeons of England. His fields of interests include dental public health, fluorides, nutrition, paediatric dentistry and systematic reviews.

Stuart Robson

Stuart qualified BDS at Durham University in 1964, and worked for a year in Canada for the Grenfell Mission where he learned to give general anaesthetics for all medical conditions. Returning to the UK, he worked as an associate in general practice after getting married and having two children. After seven years, Stuart moved to a large practice in York which proved very successful and became the senior partner following the merger with another practice in Harrogate. Always a keen supporter of the BDA, Stuart was elected to the Representative Board and became vice chairman of the BDA Council and the General Dental Practice Committee. He was chariman of various committees, such as the Finance Committee and Pensions Committee, and was a lead negotiator of the successful 1990 Dental Practitioner’s Contract. In 1992, Stuart was a MFGDS(UK) at the RCS, and was honoured in 1999–2000 to be elected as President of the BDA. He was also a former secretary and President of the Lindsay Society for the History of Dentistry. His main interests outside of dentistry include sport, men's hockey, cricket, skiing and sailing.
