1944–2016

Jeremy Barnett qualified from the Royal Dental Hospital and School, London in July 1966. Upon qualification he went to St Mary's Hospital Dental Department as a house officer where he developed an interest in temporo-mandibular joint pain.

After his time at St Mary's he went into general practice in Pimlico where he became the owner of the practice and stayed for over 15 years. At the end of this period he moved to Queen Anne Street, London where he established a single-handed restorative practice. Over the next 30 years he built a successful practice there and latterly in Wimpole Street, London becoming one of the most highly respected general practitioners in Central London.

Jeremy was one of the founder members of the Alpha Omega Dental Fraternity in the UK and travelled annually to meetings in the USA to support its charitable endeavours, as well as to consolidate his technical skills and knowledge. He was instrumental in embedding the UK Alpha Omega Chapter into the wider AO family.

In 1997 Jeremy decided that he wanted to pursue one of his passions – the history of the First World War – and to this end he studied for a Master's degree in Modern History at University College London, whilst still continuing his full time practice. His dissertation entitled From Cavalry to Tank was cited in his professor's own work.

As Jeremy neared retirement he developed a keen interest in boating. He became an active sailor and diligently worked for several navigational qualifications.

Jeremy was married to Jacqueline for over 47 years and had two sons, Mark, a fund manager, and Edward, a corporate lawyer.

He is survived by them, two daughters-in-law and six grandchildren.
