This year's sponsored Dentaid trek will run from 1-14 October in North East India. The first two days will be spent assisting at a dental clinic in a home for disabled children in Calcutta, followed by a 60 km trek through West Bengal's mountains, forests and villages and a visit to a Buddhist monastery.

Dentaid is a dental charity that collects unwanted equipment from surgeries and hospitals for refurbishment and shipping to the developing world to equip clinics and teaching hospitals.

Apart from hotels at the start and end of the trip accommodation is in mountain huts or tents and individuals interested in taking part can either meet costs themselves or raise them through sponsorship.

Author James Goolnik is donating all of the profits from his book Brush: proven strategies to make you and your dental business shine to Dentaid. Dentist James shares his practical wisdom for creating a successful life and dental practice in the book, which was due to be launched on 11 March.
