The BSSPD, formerly known as the British Society for the Study of Prosthetic Dentistry, founded in 1953, has changed its name to the British Society of Prosthodontics at an Extraordinary General Meeting held at the 2nd Pan Society Conference in Liverpool recently. While the acronym BSSPD and historical brand identity remain, the name change embodies the educational, research and clinical activity that the society undertakes in the core areas of fixed prosthodontics and removable prosthodontics.
