Success for Dr Alison Newlyn who sat the recent FDS by Assessment, seen here with the Diploma's two co-leads, Mr Andrew Shelley and Mr Robert Chate

The Faculty of Dental Surgery of The Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh held the first diet of its re-launched Fellowship in Dental Surgery by Assessment recently which saw success for Dr Alison Newlyn.

This was the culmination of much work in reviving a Fellowship that enables dental surgeons with either an MGDS or a dental specialty membership diploma to advance and become a Fellow, even if they have not pursued an accredited training programme to become a consultant.

Applications to sit are welcomed from clinicians who have had an MGDS or other specialty dental membership from any of the Surgical Colleges for a period of at least three years.
