Mg(N(SiMe3)2)2 (0.75 g, 2.17 mmol) and Co(OAc)2 (0.39 g, 2.17 mmol) was added to a solution of H2L (1.20 g, 2.17 mmol) in THF (10 mL) and heated to 100 °C in a sealed ampoule for 16 h. The solvent was reduced in vacuo to dryness and the solid washed with pentane (3 x 10 mL) to afford a pale pink solid (1.12 g, 1.49 mmol, 69 %). MS (MALDI-ToF): m/z 693 [LMgCo(OAC)]+. Elemental Analysis for C38H60CoMgN4O6 (751.37 gmol-1): Calculated; C, 60.68; H, 8.04; N, 7.45 %. Found; C, 60.51; H, 7.88; N, 7.20 %.
