The University of Leeds has created more than 110 spin-out companies since 1995.

At the forefront of healthcare innovation, the University of Leeds has strengths in healthcare, digital, and artificial intelligence. This makes it ideal for emerging health innovation companies.

Mimetrik is one such company. A University of Leeds spin-out, Mimetrik aims to tackle the challenges faced in dentistry when it comes to digital solutions - inaccurate data, expense, and difficulty-of-use are major hurdles. Mimetrik uses 3D scanning technology to produce digitised images of a patient's teeth and facial structure, for improved accuracy and more predictable treatment.

Its founders set up the company following years of pioneering research at the Department of Digital Dentistry at the University of Leeds School of Dentistry. Having secured £2 million seed funding from Northern Gritstone, Mimetrik is now one step closer to bringing its cutting-edge technology to market.
