Dentistry Stands with Ukraine, a group set up by retired dentist Leo Jurkiw from Nottingham, who is of Ukrainian descent, recently dispatched dental goods worth over £87,000 to the city of Vinnytsia in war-torn Ukraine.

The war in Ukraine has drastically affected provision of dental services throughout the country, not only in areas affected by actual conflict but also in the wider territory, because of the displacement of the population.

The recent shipment was donated by Prima Dental, world leading manufacturer of dental burs, based in Gloucester.

A spokesperson for Dentistry Stands with Ukraine said: 'We are receiving requests almost daily from dentists whose lives have been devastated by the war, but who refuse to abandon their posts and their patients. Dentists like Valeriy Brahynets from Chernihiv, north of Kyiv (near Chernobyl) who last week sent photographs of his surgery [pictured].

'Dentistry Stands with Ukraine desperately want to help, but we can only do so if we have the support of the dental community in the UK. Please help your colleagues in their time of need.'
