The conference will take place on 24 and 25 February 2024, with the Research Summit featuring on Sunday 25 February.

The aim of the Research Summit will be to empower students with a chance to connect to the wider dental community beyond dental school. Research is pivotal in dentistry, influencing standards, good practice, and advances in oral health. The BDSA Research Summit presents an exceptional and coveted opportunity for dental students to present the results of their academic endeavours.

Research submissions

Commenting on the research submissions, Aliysha Rahman, BDSA Academic Officer, said: ‘As a dental student, I understand the demanding workload that dental students face. Therefore, we have designed the Research Summit to be not only informative but also enjoyable and manageable. To facilitate this, all research submissions will take the form of abstracts.

‘Your submissions will be read by distinguished academics from King's College London who will carefully select a winner and a highly commended student.

The winning student will not only showcase their work at the BDSA Conference, but also enjoy the privilege of having their research published in BDJ Student.

‘Additionally, they will be sponsored by Curaden UK to partake in the Peniche Surf Camp in August 2024. This incredible opportunity includes engaging in an ITOP workshop amidst the sun and sea in Portugal. The highly commended winner will receive an exclusive Curaprox Goodie bag valued at over £100 and a personal invitation to a UK ITOP Introductory course at their new office in Northampton. Moreover, all submitted student works will be compiled into a ‘Book of Abstracts,' accessible on the BDA website, and distributed to peers after the conference.'
