Yaqoub, who replaces fellow University of Birmingham student Nicka Kafil, will take up the role from the August edition onwards. David Westgarth, BDJ Student Editor, said: 'We are delighted to bring Yaqoub on board. His entry stood out and really resonates with what we're hearing from students about their perceptions and takes on dental school. I am looking forward to working with him throughout his tenure.'

Yaqoub added: 'I am truly honoured and grateful to have been selected as the new student editor of BDJ Student - a journal that I have been reading since I first started dental school! I want to extend my sincere appreciation to the selection committee for placing their trust and confidence in me. I am excited to collaborate closely with David to provide fresh perspectives and engaging content to dental students.

'I would also like to congratulate Nicka Kafil for her outstanding work as the previous student editor. I admire her contributions and hope to build upon the foundation she has established.

'For me, dental school is a transformative journey that encompasses both challenges and triumphs. It is my goal to address these diverse experiences that students encounter with my passion of writing and dentistry. I am fully committed to offering valuable insights that I genuinely hope will empower dental students.

'Once again, I want to express my gratitude for this incredible opportunity. I am eagerly anticipating the start of my role and the chance to contribute to the ongoing success of BDJ Student.'
