Abstract
It was detected through grafting onto silica that atactic poly(methyl acrylate) showed unpredictably specific retention selectivity against polycyclic compounds with π-electrons as if molecular-shape recognition was performed. This specificity was discussed with retention behaviors in several other polymer-grafted silicas and by proposing a parameter f to evaluate the contribution of π-π interaction.
