Abstract
A computer-operated light scattering photogoniometer with a He–Ne laser (632.8 nm) as the light source was constructed, and the conditions for acquiring and processing data were investigated. The major features of the instrument are as follows. (1) Intensities of scattered light can be measured at a scattering angle as low as 5°. (2) A photon counting method is used for the measurement of scattering intensities. (3) Data acquisition and processing as well as the scanning of the photomultiplier over a specified range of scattering angles can be made with the aid of an on-line microcomputer. This instrument is tested with low-and high-molecular-weight polystyrene samples in benzene.
