Abstract
An apparatus which has been presented in a previous paper [Polym. J., 1, 727 (1970)] for measuring complex viscosity of dilute polymer solutions is significantly improved in both electronic circuit and vibrational assembly. As a result, the sensitivity, stability, and ease of operation are greatly increased. The frequency range is extended from 2 to 500 kHz. The method requires 10 cc of the solution to be measured and has the advantage of being applicable even to electrically conductive solutions. Illustrative data of the complex viscosity for an aqueous solution of poly(acrylic acid) at a concentration of 0.16 g/100 ml are presented.
