Centaurus X-3, Possible Reactivation of an Old Neutron Star by Mass Exchange in a Close Binary

Abstract

An upper limit of 0.7 ± 0.14 M is obtained for the mass of the pulsar component of Cen X-3. The system is likely to be a massive close binary in the second stage of mass exchange.
