Abstract
PALAEOMAGNETIC surveys of Devonian rock formations in Europe have revealed two groups of poles1,2 separated by an angular distance estimated at about 35°–45°. The two polar regions correspond to formations which have been geologically assigned respectively to (i) the Lower Devonian and (ii) the Middle Devonian-Lower Carboniferous.
