The Fluorescence of Quinacrine Mustard with Nucleic Acids

An Erratum to this article was published on 01 March 1974

This article has been updated

Abstract

CASPERSSON'S discovery1 of the differential fluorescence of chromosomes stained in situ with acridine dyes has made two fundamental contributions to cytogenetics. First, individual chromosomes and even parts of chromosomes can now be accurately identified2. Second, the technique has opened new avenues of research into the structure and organisation of chromosomes3.
