Depressed Allogeneic Inhibition Response after Treatment with Anti-Lymphocyte Serum

Abstract

IMMUNOSUPPRESSIVE agents, especially anti-lymphocyte serum (ALS), augment the growth of transplanted tumours1–3 and increase the incidence of spontaneous or chemically induced tumours4–7. Most of these reports suggest that ALS treatment causes an immune deficiency which is in whole or in part responsible for the increased oncogenic effect by the suppression of an immunological surveillance mechanism.
