In October, the Berkeley Earth Surface Temperature project, funded in part by climate sceptics, concluded that the Earth is warming based on the most comprehensive review of the data yet. Nature Climate Change talks to the project's director, physicist Richard Muller.

Your results found evidence of a rise in the global land mean temperature of approximately 1 °C since the mid-1950s (0.9 ± 0.04 °C). We have studies from the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, NASA and the Hadley Centre already showing global warming is occurring — why the re-analysis?
