BDA Hospitals Group Annual Presidential and Scientific meeting

The theme of this year's Hospitals Group Annual Presidential and Scientific meeting is training and education. This event is open to all – you do not have to be a member of the Hospitals Group to attend. BDA Community Dental Services Group Annual Presidential and Scientific meeting

Designed to appeal to all dentists with an interest in special care dentistry and community dentistry, this conference provides two days of informative and enlightening lectures by renowned speakers. Entitled Special care dentistry – from cradle to grave it is open to all. You do not have to be a member of the CDS Group to attend.

An all-encompassing programme will cover the oral healthcare of children, patients in their middle and older years and disabled patients. Treatment options will be examined from all perspectives – the dentist's, the patient's and the carer's. The conference will also look at child-protection issues and the management of abuse. There will also be sessions on career development and training in community dentistry.

Held this year in Bath, the meeting is also a great opportunity for delegates to bring their partners or families to spend the weekend experiencing the architecture and attractions on offer in this beautiful city.

Setting up in practice

Career Opportunities in UK Dentistry

The annual 'Career Opportunities in UK Dentistry' event will take place on 8 February 2008. Now in its eighth year, the BDA have once again teamed up with UCL Eastman Dental Institute to produce this inspirational, informative event.

This is a great opportunity for vocational dental practitioners, young dentists, those returning to dentistry after a break and dentists from overseas to find out what exciting career options are available. The experienced programme of speakers will share their insights and knowledge on dentistry to help you make informed choices on your career path.

Dentistry in the UK

If you are a European Union dentist who would like more information on working in the UK, the BDA are holding a new event called Dentistry in the UK. The event will cover dentists' regulatory obligations and the regulations regarding health and safety, infection control, radiation protection and CPD, as well as information on how to avoid common pitfalls.

If you feel that you have limited understanding of UK legislation and are interested in working in the UK, this seminar is for you.

Dental implants for GDPs and their teams: clinical aspects of implant dentistry

The BDA are pleased to launch this new event where dentists and their practice staff can receive guidance on incorporating implants into their practice and ensure they understand the key principles in implant placement and restoration. Implant therapy offers many advantages over conventional fixed or removable treatment options and for many patients implants are becoming more mainstream and the treatment of choice for teeth replacement.

This event will give advice on assessing the patient and considering treatment options, radiographic techniques, bone and soft tissue augmentation and recognising complications and signs and symptoms of failure.

Developing your practice – business and financial considerations

This seminar is designed to appeal to dentists and their teams in mixed or private practices who are already established in a practice and want to gain a greater understanding of the business and financial aspects involved in developing their practice further.
