The British Dental Trade Association's Dental Showcase 2007 exhibition which took place last month was the biggest yet, with 347 stands exhibiting the latest dental products, technologies and services to almost 12,000 visitors who attended at the NEC Birmingham.

All members of the dental care team were represented and 45% of all visitors were dentists, with many individuals visiting the exhibition on more than one of the three days.

With the registration deadline for dental nurses and technicians fast approaching, the GDC offered an application checking and advice service throughout the Dental Showcase at its stand where a dedicated team of staff were on hand at its 'Registration Surgery' to answer questions, provide application packs, check off forms well in advance of the 30 July 2008 deadline.

This year's theme at Showcase was a Touch of Magic with many of the exhibitors adopting a magical theme as part of their stand and marketing activities. Visitors enjoyed the tricks of internationally renowned magician Alan Hudson on the BDTA stand, searching for the magic white rabbits located on exhibition stands and having their photograph taken with the official life size Showcase rabbit which made a surprise appearance on Saturday.

Several thousand entries were received for the trip to the Magic Kingdom in Disney World Resort Florida, prize draw. The lucky winner was Mrs Lisa Bates of B V Nuttall Dental Health Ltd, Sheffield. Lisa is now very much looking forward to taking her ten-year-old son with her on the holiday.
