A clinical study to test the effect of two seating positions on muscular activation and upper limb function has shown that sitting on a Bambach Saddle Seat while working improves the skill and accuracy with which tasks are performed. The study concluded that sitting in an anteriorly tilted position - where the pelvis tilts forwards as on the Bambach – helps promote a healthier working posture and may minimise discal pressure, reducing low back pain and the tendency to slump.

The research, undertaken by the University of Birmingham's School of Health Sciences and published in the November issue of the International Journal of Therapy and Rehabilitation, has significant implications for thousands of British dentists whose work requires long periods of sitting, bending and stretching over patients, with hands and arms activated in precision work. The aim of the study was to identify what effect the position of the pelvis has on upper limb function. The researchers found that seating, and the position a seat places your pelvis, has a significant effect. The subjects, when seated on a Bambach, performed significantly better in upper limb tasks than the subjects when seated on a flat seat.
