For the third year running, the QUIT Awards run by QUIT, the charity dedicated to helping people stop smoking and sponsored by Nicotinell, are searching for the Smoking Cessation Supporter of the Year 2005. Aimed at dentists and other health professionals from across the UK, the Award seeks to recognise innovation, excellence and dedication, in individuals or teams who have made a real and significant impact on smoking cessation services in their area. The Award will run in tandem with the Quitter of the Year Award launched to celebrate and reward ex-smokers whose stories will inspire the eight million people in the UK who want to stop smoking.

If you run your own smoking cessation programme or know someone who deserves to be crowned Smoking Cessation Supporter of the Year or Quitter of the Year 2005, call the Quitline free on 0800 00 22 00 (open every day from 9am to 9pm) for an application form or enter on-line at www.quit.org.uk. The closing date for nominations is Thursday 28 July. Smoking Cessation Supporter finalists will be chosen by an expert selection panel with a special award ceremony taking place in London in December. The winning individual or team will win a tailormade QUIT training package to help expand and enhance their service.
