Michael was born in Nottingham on the 20th November 1934, and educated at Ampleforth School. He served for two years in the Royal Marines and entered the Royal Dental Hospital in 1956. He qualified in 1961 and spent his first year as a House Officer at St George's Hospital followed by six months general practice in Plymouth before settling in Leighton Buzzard where he worked until his retirement.

Michael was respected for his dental skills by colleagues and patients alike. His great loves in life were his family and sailing. He was a master craftsman, building his own 38ft ketch.

A devout Catholic, his Christian beliefs found expression in daily life through great generosity and particularly in the work he did for the disadvantaged.

Michael leaves a widow, Anne-Louise, a retired doctor, four children and nine grandchildren, all of whom he adored.
