Patients suffer less with FitChecker II

GC FitChecker II has been designed to check the fit of dentures to mucosal surfaces as well as that of crown prostheses to abutment teeth.

FitChecker II has flow characteristics enabling minute surface detail to be recorded; furthermore FitChecker II is thixotropic and keeps patient discomfort to a minimum. GC claims FitChecker II allows enough working time to comfortably load the prosthesis into the patient's mouth and yet it has a sharp snap set.

GC claims with equal amounts of base and catalyst, the FitChecker II can be dispensed easily and mixed smoothly in a matter of seconds. The layer of FitChecker II is strong and flexible even in a thin section of 15 microns and it will not tear. The material is easily separated from the prosthesis, facilitating quick removal after checking without the need to scrub or brush as with sprays and pastes.

BioResorb from Panadent

BioResorb is a biocompatible material syn-thetically derived from pure chemicals. The crystalline structure of the pure β-Tri-calciumphosphate (99%) presents optimal biological properties. In addition to the 100% resorbability, the material can be easily applied where indicated. The rate of resorption of BioResorb is proportional to the formation of new bone.

Resorption of the β-TCP material takes place simultaneously with the formation of new bone in the augmentation site. According to the size of the granules, the resorption usually is complete after a period of 9 to 15 months, depending on the regeneration potential of the patient. Com-pleted resorption can be checked radi-ographically in implant cases.

The open accessible osteo-structures of the granule material enable the bone to grow into the complete material structure. In addition, the capillary structure of the granules shows exceptional absorption properties.

Implant centres

Dencare have formulated a clinical strategy to apply evidence based protocols and systems in their implant centres, by working with implant surgeons who have previously rationalised their choice of implant systems.

Dencare claims to work closely with the major implant companies to ensure that dental implant protocols are maintained. These major implant systems are manufactured to a high standard, and Dencare claims that dental surgeons need to work with the implant system they are familiar with.

3i aim for patient improvement with PCCS

3i Implant Innovations have launched the Platelet Concentrate Collection System (PCCS), a new system for the collection of Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP).

The PCCS is highly effective, allowing simple processing of PRP in the dental surgery. 3i claims use of Platelet Rich Plasma can increase soft tissue healing time. These significant advances mean that patients with previously compromised wound healing, such as diabetics, patients of advanced age and smokers, may be better suited for dental implants. Get to the base of the pocket with Vector

VPersistent plaque accumulation can have the same effect on the periimplant mucosa as the gingiva, however, whilst the lesion around the natural tooth is restricted to the gingiva in the early stages, the periimplant bone is affected by the inflammation much earlier. For this reason the removal of surface-absorbed biofilms is paramount.

Durr Dental claims that a new periodontal treatment (called Vector) helps remove the damaging surface absorbed biofilm on implant surfaces. This is achieved because Vector makes access to the base of the pocket much easier, even in cases of non-linear bone loss.

Soft, slim and flexible - from Molar

TePe have launched a very light, enlarged, non-slip, easy-to-grip, handle that simply slips over a TePe toothbrush for people who find it hard to grip the normal handle of a toothbrush.

This is a multi-use product. When you change your toothbrush, you simply transfer the handle over to the new brush. The design and development of this handle has been in collaboration with specialists working in the fields of disability and special needs.

TePe also have a new, slim, soft and flexible brush. They have discovered that patients do not consider interdental brushes as portable items for use on the move. With this in mind, TePe has launched the perfect complement to the brushes: plastic inter-dental sticks. Very slim, soft and flexible, with a textured suface these sticks clean effectively interdentally without fear of splitting or damage to the teeth and gums.

Self tapping screws from Astra Tech

Fixture ST, launched in 1992 originally for the restoration of a missing tooth, is a high quality dental implant self-tapping screw whose threads have been designed to ensure a secure primary fixation whilst providing favourable distribution of the loading forces.

Fixture ST is available in six different lengths, from 9mm to 19mm, and in two diameters, 4.5mm or 5.0mm. The fixture is conical in design to simplify installation and minimise surgical stress on the bone, and features a unique and optimised surface texture achieved through Astra Tech's strictly controlled manufacturing process, 'TiOblast.'

Also from Astra Tech is the new Angled Abutment System which has undergone extensive testing and evaluation to ensure it performs well. The new Angled Abutment system comprises an abutment, an abutment screw in pure grade 4 titanium, and prosthetic and laboratory components, each precision made and designed for ease of use during every clinical and laboratory stage. The Angled Abutments are easily placed in parallel positions. An indexing feature is provided to facilitate correct positioning of the abutment or abutment replica during the prosthetic procedures.

The Angled Abutment caters for all implant needs and is available in four different configurations: 3.5, 4.0, 4.5, and 4.5/5.0mm. These configurations fit all of the Astra Tech Dental Implants. For further information call 01453 791763.
