Inverse relationship between calf and breast size in obese females

Of the 512 patients examined 53.5% (273 patients) had become obese during childhood (under age 18) and 46.5% (239 patients) during adulthood. Of the 273 patients whose obesity onset in childhood, 50% had a top-type figure, 29% were pillars and 21% were pears. Of the 239 patients whose obesity onset in adulthood, 57% had a top-type figure, 32% were pillars and 11% were pears.

Of interest, then, is the finding of approximately twice as high a percentage of pear-type figures in patients whose obesity onset in childhood, rather than adulthood (21% vs 11%). This lends further impetus to the prevention of obesity in our school-children.
