The figure schematically depicts an oligodendrocyte simultaneously wrapping multiple axons with a myelin sheath. Also shown are nodes of Ranvier, which are small unmyelinated axonal regions. Peroxisomes are present in myelin sheaths surrounding axons and are also present in the axons.
