Australian carbon trading scheme delayed
Senators push back passage of greenhouse gas bill.
Australia's troubled efforts to introduce a greenhouse gas emissions trading scheme hit a major obstacle last week, when senators from conservative and minor parties succeeded in postponing a vote on the legislation until August.
The Carbon Pollution Reduction Scheme has already passed the government-dominated House of Representatives, and Prime Minister Kevin Rudd's ruling Labor Party had hoped to have the legislation through the upper house by the end of June.
