Sir
I was sent a message from Nature offering a free electronic version of the 1 April 2004 issue that could be downloaded. Although I carefully followed the instructions I was not able to get access to it online. When I tried again I was refused access because only one copy was allowed and it had a record of my previous abortive attempt. When I reported this to the Nature customer-support staff I was informed that the free issue was no longer available. Was the free copy ever available? Or was it all an April Fool joke?
