Abstract
The presence of a particulate or gaseous ring in Saturn's outer magnetosphere at distances of 14 and 19 radii from Saturn was predicted by Lazarus et al.1 based on the analysis of ion density measurements by Voyagers 1 and 2 and Pioneer 11. The ring structure at 14 radii from Saturn was detected by Vasundhara et al.2 from the occultation observations of the star SAO158913 on 24 and 25 March 1984. We report here the detection of a ring system at 19 radii using photoelectric observations of the occultation of the star SAO158763 on 12 May 1984.
