Geomagnetic variation during the late Pleistocene period and changes in the radiocarbon time scale

Abstract

The Earth's magnetic field appears to have been weaker than it is today for much of the period 50,000–10,000 yr ago. The geomagnetic record can be used to predict changes in the production of radioactive nuclides by cosmic rays interacting with the atmosphere.
