Abstract
IN 1901 Dunstan and Henry1 reported the occurrence of lotusin, the maltose cyanohydrin ether of lotoflavin (quercetin2), in air-dried samples of Lotus arabicus L. collected in Egypt. Nearly forty years later, Henry3 isolated lotaustralin (α-hydroxy-α-methyl-butyronitrile-β-D-glucose) from the same species.
