On this page are various forms you will need to fill in before your paper can be published.

1. Author checklist

Please download the author manuscript checklist (PDF 57KB) and amend your manuscript as appropriate. To avoid delays in the production process, please complete and return this sheet with the final accepted version of your manuscript.

2. Competing interests

Before publication you will need to complete a competing interests form. Further information on Nature's policy on competing interests can be found at the publication policies page.

3. Licence to publish

When you receive your proofs from the typesetter you will need to complete an author licence form (pdf 184KB), or if you are a US government employee, use this alternative form (PDF 12KB). If you are a UK government employee, please use this form author licence uk gove employees uk pdf.

Authors of Reviews and Progress articles, and any other commissioned work, should use this alternative form (PDF 40KB) or this form if the author is a US government employee (PDF 38KB).If you are a UK government employee, please use this form author licence uk gove employees uk pdf.

4. Colour figures

If your paper contains colour illustrations, you will need to complete the colour figures (PDF 50KB) form.

A contribution towards the total cost of reproduction of colour figures is requested. We currently charge £700 for the first colour figure and £250 for each additional figure. Inability to pay this charge will not prevent publication of colour figures judged essential by the editors.

5. Structures

Authors publishing X-ray (doc 82KB) and NMR (doc 55KB) structures will need to download the relevant forms to include as Supplementary Information.

6. Chemical Structures

Authors describing chemical structures are advised to use the style developed by Nature Chemical Biology, which can be downloaded here as a PDF.

7. Reprints

After you have returned your proofs, you and your co-authors can order reprints by faxing or emailing the reprint order form for the part of the world in which you live. Click here for US reprint orders (PDF 133KB) , here for Japan reprint orders (PDF 121KB) and here for orders for the rest of the world (PDF 132KB).

If you prefer to order reprints online, you may do so via Sheridan Press.

Please note that to obtain the author reprints special rate, reprints must be ordered within a month of the publication date. Orders received later than a month after publication are subject to the normal, "commercial", rate. As an author, please use the author reprint email address for placing your orders.

Copies of the issue your paper appears in are also available to you and your co-authors by faxing or emailing the single copy order form to author-reprints@nature.com. Please note orders must be received within the month your paper is published.

Reprints of front covers in poster format are also available to you and your co-authors by faxing or emailing the poster order form for the part of the world in which you live. To download your order form click here.
