Left, Drosophila melanogaster – electrophysiology is used to record from an awake behaving fly. Centre, Apis mellifera – bees leave the research hive to forage and explore the environment outside the laboratory. Upper right, Danio rerio - swimming is used as a behavioral readout for various tasks in zebrafish.
