Volume 14 Issue 7, July 2009

The inset at the top left of the cover image depicts immunostaining of serine racemase, the enzyme that converts L-serine to D-serine, in sagittal sections of wild type and serine racemase knockout mouse brain. The bottom left inset depicts the paths of mice swimming during a water maze probe test. A wild type mouse swam preferentially in the quadrant formerly containing the platform whereas a serine racemase knockout mouse showed no preference, indicating a spatial memory deficit. The background image depicts a wild type C57BL/6J mouse posing on the escape platform in the water maze.
